Annoyed

So of course I've been telling folks that I'm going to loc my hair. The one question that annoys me is, "so can you take them down?". Of course, I tell them that locs can be taken down, but they ask me as if it's a hairstyle like braid extensions or a weave. I'm trying to understand what makes folks think that I'm going to get locs and then turn around and take them down. I intend on keeping my locs for several years, possibly for life. If I take my locs down, it'll probably be to start over with a different size/look. lol
